How To Leave a Comment ("Bidding for Newbies")

If you are new to the world of blogs, Blogger, leaving comments, etc., this document will walk you through the process.

So, you see something you want to bid on! Here's what you do. . . .

At the bottom of the post will be a time stamp (like "12:00 PM") and next to that it will say "0 Comments" (or "5 Comments" -- depending on how many people have bid already). Click on that word: "comments."

The page will reload and it will say:

Post a Comment

**TYPE YOUR BID IN THE COMMENT BOX**

If you don't have a Blogger or OpenID account, PLEASE write your E-MAIL addy in the comment box.

If you have a Blogger account remember to click on “Subscribe by email” below, to be notified of subsequent bids on this listing! If you don't have a Blogger account, just check back periodically to see if there are new bids.

PLEASE CHECK BACK IN 15 MINUTES TO MAKE SURE YOUR BID HAS APPEARED. IF IT HASN'T, PLEASE EMAIL SWACHSLER at AOL dot COM AND I WILL PUT IN YOUR BID FOR YOU.

Below (or above, if yours is not the first comment) is a box that says, "Enter your comment..."

Put your cursor in this box and type in your email address and the amount of your bid. For example:

Jane.Doe at gmail dot com
$25

Below the box it says, "Comment as:" with a drop-down menu next to it. If you don't have a google or OpenID account (which you probably don't if you're reading this), click on the drop-down menu and choose "Anonymous."

Below that you will see two buttons on the left: "Publish" and "Preview." These are important. Keep reading.

If you have a Blogger account, you'll see the words, "Subscribe by email" in small, reddish-brown text on the right side below the comment box. If you see it, click on that. Then you will be alerted if other people outbid you. If you don't see that, you can subscribe to the auction by email or you can just check back in every once in a while to see if you've been outbid.

Now, click the "Publish" button.

TO POST YOUR COMMENT, YOU MUST CLICK THE "PUBLISH" BUTTON.

After you click the publish button, you should get a message that says something like, "Your comment will appear after approval," or something like that.
